A five part series set in Tom Clarke’s Tobacconists in the year leading up the 1916 Rising, the story follows the lives of several of his customers and a RIC officer, James, who is put in charge of watching Tom and the men he associates with. In this week’s episode we find James haunted by his part in the August 1913 riot that saw 100s of people beaten by RIC and Dublin Metropolitan Police officers in O’Connell Street (then Sackville St). As he grapples with his past will he be able to follow through with his superior’s orders or is he liability waiting to be turned by the IRB? Tune in to find out.
